About julielevy

I am going to leave the formal stuff for my website, but come back soon for a fun bio that I will make someone else write for me.

Jon and Kim Engagement Photos

We took a trip out to Isabelle Farms to photograph Jon and Kim’s engagement photos.  They were a little apprehensive at first, felt awkward and shy, but five minutes in to it they commented on how much easier it was than they thought.  Accompanied by a little iphone music, courtesy of my assistant Jam, we had a blast and made the most of a beautiful day.

New Belgium Tour

A few of us from The Kitchen had the wonderful opportunity to go on an all inclusive (not sure what that means) private tour of the New Belgium Brewery.  Thank you Ray and New Belgium for making this possible!  One of the best days ever.  Will never forget.

Prom 2010 V Day benefit for Educate

My pro bono for the month, I had the wonderful opportunity to set up a photo booth at the 10th Annual Valentines Day Prom for Educate.  It was held at the beautiful Mercury Cafe in Denver. It was a lot of fun.  I highly recommend attending next year’s event if you can.

Here are some of my favs from the night.

Gold Medal Beer Dinner

The Kitchen [Upstairs] has an annual Gold Medal Beer Dinner where some 5 breweries are featured with a five course meal at a fixed price.  I usually work  the event but this year I convinced Hugo to hire me as a photographer instead of a server.

These are some of my favorite photos that I have yet to post anywhere, mostly because I think I may be the only one who likes them.  These are images that could be included in an extensive photo essay about the beer dinner; the behind the scenes.  But as far as promotional use for the event I don’t think anyone would care too much.

The kitchen line.  How we keep things in order.

Prosciutto. I can’t decide if this looks appetizing or not.  I like the lines and light and texture of this image.

You can’t tell but Geoff is posing really awkwardly with his legs.  Little did he know he would look like a model.

I just like this one.

This is The Kitchen I know all too well.  Although I knew no one would use this photo I couldn’t resist the light, I had to take it anyway. Probably my favorite photo out of all of them.

Cupcake on a chair

I went to Mulberries Cake Shop a few weeks ago to photograph their cupcakes for 5280′s Table Talk.  There was this great upholstered chair that I placed the cupcake on as I was setting up a different shot.  Then I realized the shot was with the chair.  I bounced the direct sunlight from the window onto the cupcake and was able to expose for the window display in the background.

It was a shot I didn’t plan for but I thought it turned out pretty cool.  It is a little busy but it is a refreshing change from something I would have normally shot.

Beaumont Family Photos

These are my friends Josh and Jen with their new baby boy Aiden Wiiliam.  Sometimes I use the Upsatirs at The Kitchen as my personal photo studio.  Great window light and nice clean backgrounds.

Baby Aidan was off and on fussy during the 30 minute shoot.  But it was nice to capture the candid moments between mother and son and father and son as they calmed him down.

A Kitchen Wedding

I realize it has been a while since my last post.  Originally I thought I only needed a professional website.  Now I understand the importance of a frequently updated blog.

So here is just a couple photos from a wedding at The Kitchen.  I was not the photographer, although I was asked to bring my camera just in case the photographer didn’t show up.  She did show up but the DJ didn’t.  Thank god for our bartender, DJ Russo.  Multifaceted staff of The Kitchen.

I snapped off about 8 photos before the ceremony.  Came away with a gorgeous image and an intimate moment.
